I am looking forward to celebrating SABR Day 2018 with you in just two short weeks.
SABR Day will be Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the San Francisco Main Library in the Koret Auditorium.
The Library is located at 100 Larkin St., at Civic Center. It is very convenient to Civic Center BART. There is underground parking nearby across from City Hall.
Our program will start at 1pm and run until around 3. After the program, we’ll walk over to Max’s Opera Cafe on Van Ness, to continue our baseball conversation and enjoy a bite to eat.
I am excited about this program: It celebrates the grand opening of the exhibit ” A Game of Color: The African American Experience in Baseball”.
We will view the film “Only the Ball was White”. Following the film, Terry Cannon, of the Baseball Reliquary and the curator of the exhibit, will talk about the exhibit and film, and host a discussion with former ballplayer Nate Oliver, and artist Bill Cormalis, Jr., whose research in the history of African American baseball has influenced his work. We may have additional guests as well.
After the discussion, we will be able to spend some time with Terry and enjoy the exhibit.
Then we’ll walk over to the restaurant.
There is no charge for the meeting at the public library, but I would appreciate your rsvp for the meeting as well as if you are planning to join us at Max’s. I would like to give the restaurant a head count by Wednesday, January 24.
Please contact me at email@example.com with the following information:
1. Your name/names of guests
2. How many will join us at Max’s.
This event is sponsored by the San Francisco Public Library, ( thank you ,Joan Jasper) and the Lefty O’ Doul and Dusty Baker Chapters of SABR.
Hoping to see you there.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Looking forward to another season enjoying baseball and SABR with you all.
